Loan Officer Position

Loan Officer Intern

Tanzania, Dar es Salaam Credit Department Reports To: Branch Manager

Position Overview

As a Loan Officer Intern, you will assist in the daily operations of the loan origination process, supporting our Loan Officers in helping clients secure appropriate financial products. You will gain valuable exposure in the business lending sectors, collections and monitoring of loan portfolios and participate in tasks that range from preparing loan documents to client communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Loan Officers in reviewing loan applications and supporting documents
  • Prepare loan application packages for submission to underwriting
  • Communicate with clients to gather additional information as needed
  • Assist in conducting initial credit and background checks
  • Learn to evaluate loan eligibility and provide recommendations to loan officers
  • Help in maintaining accurate client files and records
  • Conduct research on lending regulations and financial trends
  • Attend client meetings and observe the loan approval process
  • Provide administrative support, including data entry, filing, and scheduling appointments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree program or Diploma in Microfinance Management, Business, Education, Economics, or related field
  • Strong interest in financial services and lending
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

Loan Officer/Relationship Officer

Tanzania, Dar es Salaam Full-time Position

Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Loan Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for financial inclusion and experience in lending, particularly in a microfinance environment. As a Loan Officer, you will be responsible for managing loan applications, assessing creditworthiness, and ensuring the timely disbursement of loans to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify potential clients and assess their loan requirements
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis and credit evaluations for loan applications
  • Promote microfinance products and services to local communities and businesses
  • Provide guidance and assistance to clients on loan products and repayment plans
  • Monitor loan performance and follow up on repayments
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to encourage repayment and business growth
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations
  • Prepare loan documentation and reports as required
  • Assist in the development of strategies to improve loan portfolio quality

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Microfinance management, Business Administration, Economics, Education or Diploma in Credit management
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in microfinance, banking, or financial services
  • Strong understanding of microfinance principles and lending practices
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to assess financial statements and credit risks
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Fluency in Kiswahili and English is required
  • Knowledge of BOT regulations and microfinance laws in Tanzania is an advantage
